How to Identify Astronaut Autopens - Ink Spots and Line Thickness

Autopens come to an abrupt halt at the end of a letter and frequently leave a noticeable spot of ink at the ends of letters and words. These ink spots are very easy to see on this Jim Lovell Autopen (Above).

Compare the above Jim Lovell autopen to the authentic example below. Notice that all the lines in the Autopen are of the same thickness, where as in the authentic example lines narrow and tail off as the pen leaves the paper to move on to the next letter.
